BREAKING - DC to introduce "Earth One" in 2010

On Dec 7, 2009 11:27 AM

Awesome. I'd be completely happy if they threw out the monthlies and moved to a line of OGNs like these-- particularly if they kept it limited and with high quality creators.  E.g., one Batman book by a Johns/Frank team, one Superman book by JMS, one Grant Morrison book of some sort coming out (maybe a multiverse book).

First Look: Hawkman on SMALLVILLE

On Nov 17, 2009 9:00 AM

Yeah, I remember thinking he looked a bit stiff when I first saw this-- and his arms look really skinny for Hawkman as well.  But, the costume and wings look fine otherwise. I too will reserve judgement on this.

Talking About Talking

I agree with you completely regarding both books. I had real trouble with the tedious narration in Starman-- and later was similarly pained to read Robinson's dialogue in Cry for Justice (which I ultimately had to drop). I also find the dialogue to be the weakest part of Walking Dead.  Too often, characters there explain to the most mundane detail what they're going to do-- and then the...

Pick of the Week - 10.21.2009 - Invincible Iron Man #19

On Oct 21, 2009 9:15 PM

I'm proud of you, Josh. I just teared up a little bit. Fraction's run on this book has been, to me, the best thing to come of Dark Reign. I can't wait for Dark Reign to be over-- but I love what Fraction has done with this book, particularly since Dark Reign began. The rehabilitation here of Tony Stark has been a great capstone to the years-long story of Tony's Rise and Fall and now, hopefull...

New Comics for 10/14/2009 Is Crunching Through Leaves

Books come out today, right? The guy at my LCS just claimed that they're not receiving books until tomorrow because of the holiday on Monday-- which seems total nonsense to me. Am I wrong?

10.04.2009 - 'Superman/Batman: Public Enemies'

On Oct 2, 2009 4:12 PM

I agree with Conor-- I thought this was one of the best DCAU films.  I would rank them as follows: 1. Wonder Woman, 2. New Frontier, 3. Public Enemies, 4. tie: Superman/Doomsday and Green Lantern. I am no fan of Jeph Loeb's work, and even less so of Ed McGuinness' work-- but I did enjoy this movie.
